Situated on the lakeside of the Newacton Pavilion, a new standard is being set in the figure of ‘Parlour Wine Room’. In a stunning location that boasts water views of Lake Burley Griffin and the National Museum, Parlour is nestled into the spacious Heritage listed Acton Hotel. High ceilings, pillar set room and antique décor bring to life an atmosphere reminiscent of the 1930’s Victorian era.

The French term Parlour denotes an ‘audience-chamber’, where guests are to be received and welcomed. Parlour strives to offer a comfortable and inviting environment, where the service of a selection of the finest wines, from our local region, Australia and the world are on offer. To accompany the wide selection of wine is a creative and tantalising selection of Spanish Tapas with a modern Australian twist to entice the senses, with an ample array of deserts to keep the sweet tooth happy.

Parlour Wine Room has gone to considerable lengths to provide a distinct and accessible approach to all things boutique. A comprehensive 140 strong wine list samples some of the finest wines, sparkling and Champagne that the ACT, regional Australia and the international wine community has to offer. From our own backyard, to the region’s best an ever-increasing standard of wine production allows Parlour to showcase some delectable home grown talent. Gippsie Jack, Mount Majura, Centennial Vineyard, Stella Bella, Zema Estate, d’Arenberg and McWilliam’s all display their best and most interesting drops. Regional Australia is well represented via an active presence of wine distributors such as Bacchus, Z4, Young & Rashleigh, Haviland, Negociants and Red & White.

Amongst the extensive selection of wines on the list Parlour Wine Room offers a selection of international inclusions, renowned Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from such vineyards as Envoy and Spy Valley, the best Champagnes from France including renowned Champagne Salon, some you would have heard of, and some you may not, interesting and exciting additions from Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, The United States, South America, Chile and Argentina. So if it’s glass of your favourite local or a bottle of something quite exotic you are after, an educated staff member is always on hand to aid in your selection from the boutique list.

In continuation of Parlour Wine Room’s determination to showcase the quality of local, regional and international boutique products an emphasis also becomes present in their selection of hand crafted beers and premium spirits. In partnership with Tooheys and Little Creatures, Parlour Wine Room will be pouring Kirin Ichiban from Japan, Becks from Germany, James Squire Golden Ale from NSW and the award winning Little Creatures Pale Ale from WA. The quality continues in the fridge with a refined selection of Australian and international boutique bottled beers.

For those who prefer something a little stronger, Parlour Wine Room has put together a definitive selection of premium spirits. Exquisite Polish Vodkas, refined London Gins, smooth Kentucky Bourbons, delicate French Cognacs, distinguished Scotch Whisky’s, intoxicating Caribbean Rums and fine Mexican Tequila’s. Time and reasoning has gone into compiling a selection of such a premium products, as has the transformation of these boutique spirits into a refined cocktail list reminiscent of the simplicity and subtlety in the classics of days gone by. The fragile combination of fresh peach and dry sparkling in the Bellini, the sharpness of a perfectly chilled Martini or the rounded balance of a silky Old Fashioned, are just some of the gems on offer at Parlour Wine Room.

On the sustenance side, Parlour Wine Room presents an innovative selection of Spanish influenced tapas with a modern Australian twist. Tapas in Spain has long been a cultural phenomenon, Tapeo time is when people congregate to enjoy the small things in life, good food, good wine and good company. Parlour Wine Room is excited to offer a culinary experience that has been absent from Canberra’s thriving restaurant culture, with the kitchen open till late. Delicacies such as ‘Twice cooked pork ribs with an alvear solera glaze’ and ‘Steamed half shell scallops with a saffron foam and crispy jamon’ will have you salivating. Parlour Wine Room is also looking to cater for those with a sweet tooth. An extensive array of deserts will be on offer, including Chocolate Con Churros, a traditional Spanish desert of doughnuts dusted with cinnamon sugar served with a rich liquid chocolate, perfect to share, or not!
